HSE/NPL Test Slide for Microscope Calibration. A top quality, robust, phase contrast test slide for checking resolution of microscopes used for asbestos analysis Band 5. Includes certificate.

This test slide is made in the UK under license from the National Physical Laboratory. The purpose of the slide is to provide a standard means to check the performance of phase microscopes prior to the analysis of asbestos. The pattern consists of seven bands of twenty lines with widths ranging from 0.25 microns to 1.1 microns. This slide is the Band 5 version where microscopes need to be able to fully view band 5 and partially view band 6.

Each slide is fully tested and approved by the Health & Safety Laboratory, and issued with a certificate.

Please note that NPL and UKAS certificated models are calibrated in batches by third party laboratories and have to take their turn in the queue, on occasions this can delay delivery by months.  Demand for certificated microscope calibration scales is extremely small so we have to accumulate sufficient orders and restocking quantities before requesting a batch to be calibrated.  It is an extremely expensive and slow process because the calibrating system has to be re-assembled and itself calibrated before it can be used.  The calibrating laboratories will also wait to accumulate orders from various sources before embarking on the calibration process. Because of the high price and low demand our stocks are necessarily kept to a minimum.
